Northwest Bank Makes Donation to Allegheny Health Network, Provides Distraction Art for Pediatric Expansion at Wexford Hospital
October 18, 2023
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – Northwest Bank, a full-service financial institution offering a complete line of business and personal banking products, today announced a $12,000 donation in support of Allegheny Health Network’s (AHN) pediatric expansion at Wexford Hospital.
Expanded pediatric services at AHN Wexford will provide families with convenient access to high-quality orthopedic, ENT and inpatient care for children with acute medical conditions. The expansion also includes specialized accommodations for neurodiverse pediatric patients.
Northwest Bank’s contribution helped fund a distraction art installation feature for a pediatric room on the third floor of Wexford Hospital. The piece, created by ArtLine Ltd, was installed on the ceiling to resemble a bright sky filled with beautiful kites. Art installations such as these improve the patient experience by serving as a welcome distraction from treatment, helping reduce stress, anxiety and pain.
“In addition to providing around-the-clock care for children suffering from acute medical conditions, AHN Wexford’s pediatric expansion focuses on ensuring the best possible patient experience through distraction art installations, kid-friendly accommodations, therapeutic playrooms and more,” said Allan Klapper, MD, president of AHN Wexford hospital. The expansion of our pediatric services, which allows children to receive the overnight care they need close to home, is a significant milestone for the community and would not be possible without the help of generous donors such as Northwest Bank.”
“As a community bank, our commitment to charitable giving is a cornerstone of our identity and helps define our mission at Northwest,” said Julie Hughes, region president. “It is our privilege to support the health of the Greater Pittsburgh community and contribute to the expansion of AHN Wexford’s pediatric services.”
